Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:2-8 NIV)
I have esteemed the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. Job 23:12.
Only those who read the Scriptures as the voice of God speaking to them are true learners. They tremble at the Word of God, for to them it is a living reality. They study, they search for the hidden treasure. They open their understanding and heart to receive, and they pray for heavenly grace, that they may obtain a preparation for the future, immortal life. (TDG 169.2)
Putting our trust in God, we are to move steadily forward, doing His work with unselfishness, in humble dependence upon Him, committing ourselves and all that concerns our present and future to His wise providence, holding the beginning of our confidence firm unto the end, remembering that it is not because of our worthiness that we receive the blessings of heaven, but because of the worthiness of Christ.
Let those awake who have become sleepy and uncaring.
Faith can provide a moral compass and guide people in making ethical decisions. Many have their own set of values and principles that help them live what they think is an honorable life. But most function as though they have been given special liberty to cancel the decisions of God. The higher critics put themselves in the place of God, and review the Word of God, revising or endorsing it. In this way, all nations are induced to drink the wine of the fornication of Babylon (Revelation 14). These higher critics have fixed things to suit the popular heresies of these last days. If they cannot challenge and misapply the Word of God, if they cannot bend it to human practices, they break it.” This is why they don’t keep the Sabbath; same-gender relationships are commonplace, and people believe in the immortality of the soul.
All who study the life of Christ and practice His teachings will become like Christ. Their influence will be like His. They will reveal soundness of character. As they walk in the humble path of obedience, doing the will of God, they exert an influence that tells for the advancement of the cause of God and the healthful purity of His work.
Let us follow the Saviour in His simplicity and self-denial.
Let us lift the Man of Calvary by word and by holy living.
All who lift their cross and bear it daily after Christ, the cross is a pledge of the crown of immortality that we will receive.
If we would be with Him in heaven, we must be like Him on earth.
Do not worry about the wicked, do not envy those who do wrong. Quick as the grass they wither, fading like the green in the field. Trust in our God and do what is good, make your dwelling place in the land and live in peace; make the Lord your only joy and he will give you what your heart desires. Commit your fate to the Lord, trust in Him and he will act making your virtue clear as the light, your integrity as bright as noon. Be quiet before the Lord, and wait patiently for him, not worrying about men who make their fortunes, about men who scheme to bring the poor and needy down. Enough of anger, leave rage aside, do not worry, nothing but evil can come of it: for the wicked will be expelled, while those who hope in Yahweh shall have the land for their own. A little longer, and the wicked will be no more, search his place well, he will not be there: but the humble shall have the land for their own to enjoy untroubled peace.
He who would build up a strong symmetrical character, a well-balanced Christian, must give all and do all for Christ. We aim too low. The mark is much higher. Our minds need expansion, that we may comprehend the significance of the planning of God. We are to reflect the highest attributes of the character of God. We are not to follow human leading. Christ is our Leader. At all times and in all places, in every time of need, we shall find Him a complete help.
Talents used are talents multiplied. Success is not the result of chance or of destiny; it is the outworking of God's own providence, the reward of faith and foresight, of virtue and persevering effort. The Lord desires us to use every gift we have; and if we do this, we shall have greater gifts to use. He does not supernaturally endow us with the qualifications we lack; but while we use those which we have, He will work with us to increase and strengthen every faculty.
Allow the daily filling of the Holy Ghost… attending church is not enough. Then get off the sidelines and get in the battle!
And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: (Revelation 7:2-3).
The seal of the Living God will be placed upon those only who bear a likeness to Christ in character. As wax takes the impression of the seal, so the soul is to take the impression of the Spirit of God and retain the image of Christ. It is obedience to the principles of the commandments of God, that molds the character after the divine likeness.
The Seal of God's law is found in the Fourth Commandment. This only, of all the ten, brings to view both the name and the title of the Lawgiver. It declares Him to be the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and thus shows His claim to reverence and worship above all others. Aside from this precept, there is nothing in the Decalogue to show by whose authority the law is given.
Just as soon as the people of God are sealed in their foreheads—it is not any seal or mark that can be seen, but a settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they cannot be moved. Just as soon as God's people are sealed and prepared for the shaking, it will come. Indeed, it has begun already; the judgments of God are now upon the land, ... that we may know what is coming.
